Ten years ago, I stood with Commissioner Welch at a press conference on St. Pete Beach in opposition to opening Florida’s coast to dirty and dangerous offshore oil drilling. It wasn’t easy taking on Big Oil and the powerful politicians in their pockets, but we did and we won. And we won in large part due to the advocacy of passionate local leaders like Ken Welch.
Before that victory and since, Welch has championed policies and programs to improve our waterways, our neighborhoods, our schools, youth initiatives, and quality of life for working families. That’s why Progress Florida is proud to support Ken Welch’s campaign for Mayor.
From addressing housing affordability to tackling the pollution that fuels red tide, from advocating for quality jobs and better public transit to championing equality, justice reform, and combating climate change, Ken Welch will be the mayor St. Pete needs and deserves.
On Tuesday, November 2nd, Progress Florida asks St. Pete voters to vote Ken Welch for Mayor.
