For too long, Florida’s public schools have been subject to chronic underfunding, over-testing, and relentless efforts to turn over our local schools to private and unaccountable corporations. Through it all, our public school teachers, support staff, parents and community supporters have fought every day to build a world class educational system for Florida’s students.
Thousands of public education supporters will “Take on Tallahassee” on January 13 — the eve of the 2020 legislative session.
Florida’s parents, educators and community supporters will carry their message straight to lawmakers’ doorstep, rallying in front of the Old Capitol to demand improved funding for students and schools, fair pay for all education employees, and an end to the misguided policies that have led to the over-testing of students and the loss of local control in our districts.

Let’s be clear: we want strong, well-funded, and locally-led public schools that deliver a wide range of classes, opportunities, and services for students and their families. Our public schools should be centers of community, learning, and growth. We want our children to become the creative, critical-thinking citizens they’re meant to be. All these things require a strong and consistent source of funding from Florida’s state budget to local public schools, and that’s what we’re fighting for.
Please join us on Monday the 13th, 1:30pm, at the Civic Center from which we will march to theFlorida Capitol for the 2pm rally.
For progress,
Mark and the rest of the Progress Florida team
